WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT RIDING:  I LOVE wide open spaces and wind.  Riding a motorcycle brings both of those things together.  But, most importantly is the social aspect of it and the amazing friends I ride with in our STAR chapter.

ABOUT ME:  Colleen and I met in 1980 when she started working at the PD.  We started dating in August of that year.  We have been happily married since October 1982.  I started my law enforcement career in March of 1971 when I joined the Police Explorers (I am still actively involved with Exploring as a Police Explorer Advisor and teach at the local Explorer Academy).  I was hired as a full-time Dispatcher with EPD in 1975.  Since then I have been a Dispatch Supervisor, a Reserve Police Officer and Reserve Deputy Sheriff, a Patrol Officer, a Field Training Officer, an Evidence Tech, a Field Training Officer, a Gang Officer, a Narcotics Detective, a cross-sworn Task Force Officer with DEA, and finally a Detective working property crimes.  I plan to retire in about three years and am thinking of going back to school as an Art or Music Major.  I am learning to play the piano and enjoy reading a good book while drinking a brown adult beverage.

ABOUT US: We are both San Diego natives; Tim grew up in Lakeside and Julie grew up in Carlsbad.  We met at work in 1984 and have been very happily married for 25 years!  We live in San Marcos and we have two daughters, Courtney, 27, is a hair stylist in Solana Beach and Emily, 24 works for North County Yamaha.

HOBBIES/INTERESTS:   Motorcycle trips, sailing, fishing and camping
WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT RIDING:   Freedom, the thrill of being in control of where and when I travel.  Getting off the freeway and taking 2 lane roads to meet the "real" people.  Talking to people at rest stops, gas stops, restaurants and motels.  They all have a story to tell and I love listening to them.  My longest trip [so far] was up to Maine and down to Florida, 7 weeks at 9000 miles. 
BEEN RIDING SINCE:   1966-1973 on a TWN 195, Yamaha 250, BSA 650.  Then in 2001 I bought a Roadstar that I rode 64,000 miles seeing 48 states with zero problems.  In 2007 I bought my current bike; BMW R1200RT with 41,000 miles to date. 
OCCUPATION:   Retired from North Shore Gas in 2002 after 33 years installing and maintaining gas pipes in northeast Illinois.  Outside year round and loved it.  In the winter after working outside all day I would come home and go ice fishing.  I realize you CA people will not understand that.
ABOUT ME:   Lived in northeast Illinois and southeast Wisconsin.  In Wisconsin we had 10 acres with 3 dogs, 3 cats and 3 horses on our property.  Moved to CA in 2002.  After 2 years of marriage to my high school sweetheart we divorced.  Then after 7 years of being single I met Mari-Jo while sailing along a beach on Lake Michigan.  She climbed aboard and the rest is history, 31 years and counting.  We have 1 daughter and 2 grandkids.  I've had 5 motorcycles, 7 sailboats, 4 fishing boats and a canoe.  I love boating as much as biking.
